FRANK GARAGE - THE BEGINNING

From the past Frank show us this kind of begin, when the Frank's Garage was only an idea in a mind of someone of his kin.
We are at the end of the 30’s and we can see some interesting truck at work : Ford series BB 1934 with the wood charge on the bed.

This truck had the V8 engine 221 c.i with 85 hp. This truck had a closed cabin a new from the middle of 30’... before , usually the  cabin was open. Furthermore this truck was offered with V8 instead the classic four cylinders.

The gear was a 3 speed manual. This truck has been a force of work for the time for all the workers before the 2 ww.
Together at this Flatbed truck we see a Chevy sedan delivery of the 1939 all new…(we’re on the year of Frank garage built). This Chevy was move by a 6 inline (216 ci for 85 hp)

The Chevy all new but not perfect…the hood was open and probably some trouble was incurred… but near the Chevy another Chevy for support: Chevy series DB named  “Eagle” from 1935.
Also this Chevy has the inline six for 207 c.i, this engine was named also Stovebolt… for the typical bolt with slot as used for the wood-stove.

On the truck side the Chevy logo…so which best occasion for the begin of the Frank garage activity?
This vintage photographs give nostalgic frame for these lost Trucks but while are passed many years this images give emotions again as if time had never passed.

PONTIAC FIREBIRD 1968

Frank has been lucky for the  1968 Firebird re found. He found it in a very good shape.

the Pontiac is Painted in “april gold poly”…and the main difference with the 67 year model is the disappear of the wind glass to the side of car and the added of  the federal lights
mounted on the car side…very particular is the back side lamp with the Pontiac sign moulded

The interiors are also these in very good conditions and are black in vinyl made. the manual gear with the 8 on the pommel denote the passion for V8 engine by the pre-owner!

Under the hood found a 400 Ram air II with 340 HP.

The wheels is stock and the tires are red line performance by good year. what else? Another icon served hot on the dish!

PONTIAC FIREBIRD 1967

Frank again on the road to find some special features from the automobile world.

The meeting place is a garden where he show a beauty: Firebird m.y.1967 painted Tyrol blue poly

The interior are blue totally restored : bucket seats, console, doors panel , dash and every parts.
The car appear blue on blue and this is  a very special option
All the details are true to the original, only the tires are different: we find the "eagle" instead of the red line that the car came out in '67.

The gear is manual , with three speed shift on the floor ,on the hood we could see the tachometer as the Pontiac peculiar characteristic

This Firebird is an HO version with 285 hp. Frank is proud to have restored this car.

Pontiac Firebird facts

1967

The Pontiac Firebird appears on the market February 23, 1967, produced by the Pontiac model to counter the continued rise of the car "small" and powerful as fashion dictated.
The Firebird was built on the chassis of the Camaro and almost all metal sheets were derived Camaro, only the front grille and the bonnet was exclusive of Pontiac, shaped beak were a distinctive feature of the success of this car.
The engines were installed all Pontiac no sharing with Chevrolet.
Interesting to know that the best engine mounted on the Firebird with the same performance and efficiency was the 6-cylinder with 165 hp 230 there, brought to 215 the Sprint version with carburetor quadricorpo high compression. The transmission on the 6-cylinder was either 3 or 4-speed manual and automatic exchange with Powerglide. This 6-cylinder was a sophisticated machine and also much higher than the Camaro.
Most buyers, however, bought the Firebird with the V8 engine that was classic and low compression. It started with a 326 hp 250 with us to get to 285 hp with increased compression called HO (High Output), distinguishable from the decal dedicated. on the sides of the machine.
It was also offered the option there 400 big block 325 hp and 400 Ram Air version (with non-functional air scoop on the hood) that gave different power delivery.
The transmissions for the V8 were the same for the 6-cylinder, three-speed automatic except the one called "Car boxes turbohydramatic." So Firebird versions for 1967 were: base, sprint, 326.326 HO, Ram Air 400,400.
As for options beyond the engine, they were almost endless so as not to find any Firebird produced the same as another.

CHEVY NOMAD 1957

DEALER CHOICE: THE COLOUR

Frank back in  the past with one of his time machine tour…and he bring us in a Chevy dealer. We are in the 1957

In the showroom are exposed two new Chevy Nomad. The costumer has place an order for one of this beautiful car, but now he might choose  two. The different choice is for the colour…hard choice ‘cause both are a beauties. Larkspur Blue e Calypso Cream is the choice.. the licence plate is already on the desk ready to screwing

Hard choice! Frank meet  us of  those moments as be of ourself time, as a time machine we’re on visit at that dealer to buy that car!

Both the cars look beautiful  white wall tires, radio on the dash, rear slide window…trunk with double open…and the tail fins so cool in the fifties!

Turning  around the cars we could imagine which will be the choice. Both the car have the interiors colours as the body “tone on tone” …so the choice is more hard.

Under the hood the same engine the Turbo Fire with  283 horsepower…so from point of view of power the costumer shouldn’t have problem.
you which colour would you choose?

FORD PICK UP 1937

There was upon a time…could beginning so this story by Frank..
These pictures has taken as often happens from Frank memories.
The truck in the picture is a Ford model year 1937,rusted, dirty , fully operative for a farm (in the corner peer a JD tractor).
The time is from Frank’s young age… is the  Nebraska country.. under Christmas time.

The version of this pick up is standard but there was also a deluxe version more accessoried.
Under the hood the famous 221 c.i flatehead V8with 85 hp…low power but great torque.
The truck is given detailed with some usefull accessoires as the wood sides and the Winchester at the shoulder of the bench…practice yet today in use for many countryman.

Frank remember those moments with nostalgic feel...and he think: it will be yet in the barn? After so long time?

A motivation for a new work…should go to check!
Maybe he could find it ...and restore the truck and give to yourself a rejoicing for re find an “old friend”.
